Happy New Year from all of us at Bath Country Pets!
Here’s to a wonderful 2026, filled with countryside adventures, cosy stays, muddy paws, and of course… lots more waggy tails. A new year always feels like a fresh start, and we’re so excited for what’s to come with our four-legged guests.
Before we dive into the year ahead, we just want to say a thank you to everyone who trusted us with their dogs over the festive period. Christmas at the hotel is always special, and we loved having so many familiar (and some brand-new) faces staying with us.
A Little Thank You
You may have already seen, but to our top clients, we really hope you and your pup enjoyed the Christmas gift from us. It was our way of saying thank you for your continued support and loyalty.
Just a gentle reminder not to forget to use your exclusive booking code on any upcoming stays. The code is valid on bookings made before January 25th, so be sure to use it before it runs out.
January at the Hotel
January tends to be a slightly quieter, calmer month here at Bath Country Pets, and that’s something we really embrace. With colder days and shorter daylight hours, this is the perfect time to slow things down a little.
Throughout January, we focus on:
-
Gentle exercise and sniffy countryside walks
-
Indoor enrichment and confidence-building games
-
Extra one-to-one attention and plenty of cosy downtime
It’s all about helping the dogs settle back into routine after the excitement of Christmas while still keeping them happy, stimulated, and relaxed. We recommend that you also take some time to settle back into your routines and don’t be afraid to put yourself first. After such a busy and sociable time, January doesn’t have to be gloomy, it can be a month to catch our breath, reflect, and move towards lighter days feeling energised and productive.
A Thought on Goal Setting (For You and Your Dog)
We’ve been chatting a lot about goal setting here at the hotel recently, and it’s something I personally love. That said, I really believe goals should be realistic and achievable. When goals feel too big, they can quickly become overwhelming and that’s when they’re most likely to be forgotten.
Instead, small and manageable goals can have a huge impact, especially when it comes to your dog’s wellbeing.
Here are a few simple ideas you might like to try this year:
-
Take your dog on a new walking route once a month, new smells, new sights, and a little adventure for both of you
-
Give them an extra-long walk on most weekends or on a free day when time allows
-
Stay on top of grooming by booking a bath and brush every 6 weeks, helping to prevent knots and keep coats healthy
These goals don’t have to be perfect, and they don’t have to be done every single time. Even small changes can make a big difference to your dog’s happiness and comfort.
A Dog-Friendly January Treat 🎬🐾
We also wanted to share a lovely dog-friendly event happening locally this month. The Little Theatre Cinema is hosting a dog-friendly screening of Hamnet — perfect for a cosy winter morning out.
Dog-Friendly Screening: Hamnet (12A)
Sunday 18th January 10:15am
From Academy Award® winning writer/director Chloé Zhao, Hamnet tells the powerful love story that inspired Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
Dogs are very welcome to attend (you’re also welcome without a dog), and if you bring your pup along, you’ll be given a fleece blanket to cover the seat. Capacity is reduced for these screenings, and they limit attendance to one dog per adult, so booking early is recommended.
It’s such a lovely way to include your dog in something a little different during the quieter winter months.
A Winter Care Reminder
Winter can be tough on coats and paws. Mud, rain, and cold weather often mean more tangles, dry skin, and sore pads. Regular brushing, paw checks, and keeping nails trimmed all help keep your dog comfortable — and we’re always happy to help with this during their stay. Just let us know at drop-off or send us a message and we can book it in.
It’s going to be a good year!
