Giving Back This Festive Season at BCP
Now that Halloween is behind us and the scent of mulled wine is starting to fill the air, we’re getting ready for one of our favourite times of year here at Bath Country Pets…Christmas!
We know some may argue it is still too early to be discussing Christmas but, we cannot contain our excitement and want to make the most of this festive period! Therefore, this November, as we deck the halls and prepare for our festive weekend, we’re also celebrating the spirit of community by supporting a few very special causes close to our hearts.
Doing Our Bit — One Haircut at a Time
We’re delighted to share that Bath Country Pets has joined forces with Matter of Trust and The Hum Sum, two inspiring organisations dedicated to turning everyday waste into something wonderful. Their projects help to clean polluted waterways, reduce landfill, and support green jobs around the world.
So, where do we come in? From this month, every groom in our Bath House Spa will contribute to their efforts. Yes, all that fluffy, freshly-clipped dog hair will now be donated to help make “Hair Mats” and “Hair Scrims” that soak up oil and petrochemical spills in oceans, rivers, and storm drains. Who knew your dog’s spa day could help clean up the planet?
It’s a simple, sustainable idea that turns what would otherwise be waste into a resource proof that even the smallest actions can have real impact.
If you’d like to spread the word, you can help too. Encourage your own hairdresser, local groomer, or even nearby farms to get involved. You can find out more and sign up here: https://matteroftrust.org/
Together, we can make a difference — one snip, one trim, and one wagging tail at a time.
Our Festive Shopping Weekend
We’re officially kicking off the holiday season with our Christmas Shopping Experience & Festive Weekend, taking place from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th November.
Starting at 1pm on Friday and running through to 1pm on Sunday, join us for a cosy countryside celebration filled with all the joys of the festive season.
Bath Country Pets will be transformed into a rustic winter wonderland, complete with twinkling lights and plenty of festive cheer. Expect warming punch (or hot chocolate, if you prefer), wagging tails by the fire, and a touch of sparkle around every corner.
Your four-legged friends won’t miss out either, they’ll be served their very own cup of pupnog while you browse beautiful gifts, sample delicious seasonal treats, and soak up the joyful atmosphere.
There’ll also be some very special surprises tucked away, opportunities to get creative, and plenty of ways to spoil both you and your pup but we’re keeping those details under wraps for now. It’s not just shopping it’s the start of Christmas, Bath Country Pets style.
So mark your diary, bring your pup, and join us for a weekend filled with sparkle, laughter, and wagging tails. We can’t wait to celebrate with you.
Supporting Bath Cats & Dogs Home
This year, we’re also spreading a little extra festive love by inviting our friends from Bath Cats & Dogs Home to join us for our Christmas Shopping Weekend.
To share the joy, we’ll be gifting them a bundle of our Christmas dog toys, because we believe that every pup deserves a fun, festive season, whether they’re already part of a loving family or still waiting to find their forever home.
Here is a special story from the charity themselves and tips on how you can help them raise some money for such a great cause.
A Community Of Care Meant Survival For a Huge Litter of Puppies.
Tied to a railing, starving, and heavily pregnant – sighthound, Valerie, was barely surviving. But everything changed when she was rescued and brought to safety at Bath Cats and Dogs Home, nine days later she gave birth to 11 puppies.
So many puppies would be demanding for any mother, but Valerie was so underweight she couldn’t produce enough milk to feed all her growing babies. Luckily, she didn’t have to manage on her own as staff and volunteer fosterers stepped up to help Valerie in her hour of need. It took a community to care for the 11 puppies, with seven puppies needing to be hand-reared to give them all the best chance of survival. It was a busy couple of months for everyone, with a happy ending when all the pups were found new homes.
Bath Cats and Dogs Home cares for over 700 cats and dogs each year. If you’d like to help the charity fund the next puppy emergency, why not organise a festive fundraising tea party?
The festive season is the perfect time to bring together family and friends, and this December Bath Cats and Dogs Home are inviting people to join in their Big Festive Tea-Pawty. Help the charity raise money for rescue cats and dogs by hosting your own tea party. To get started request a fundraising pack to help you make your Tea-Pawty a success. It’s the perfect way to support rescue animals this year.
