Easy Dog Biscuits To Bake At Home

These super easy dog biscuits are a breeze to bake, if you have a food processor – literally just pile all of the ingredients into it give it all a quick whizz and that’s done! I popped into health food store and bought the wheat germ and oat bran, but I am sure some larger supermarkets will stock these ingredients.

Ingredients:

2 cups of flour, any flour works, brown, white, rice or spelt

1/2 cup wheat germ

1/2 cup oat bran

1/2 cup natural peanut butter

1 egg

1 cup milk – again any type of milk is good, if you want to go lactose free choose, soya milk, almond, coconut, rice or hemp milk – all options will work.

Method:

Once you have blitzed the ingredients together – you will end up with a dough, tip it out from the mixer or food processor and pat it out on a floured surface. Roll with a rolling pin in to about 1cm (1/3 inch) thick. Then use some cookie cutters to make shapes, we have bones, dogs, paw prints, hearts and randomly, pineapples – any shape will do!

Put all of your biscuits on to a baking sheet with a silicone sheet, baking paper or non stick foil. Bake at 180 for around 30 minutes. Then switch the oven off but leave the biscuits inside to thoroughly dry out – even overnight is good, once done store them in an air tight container. If you don’t have the opportunity to really dry your biscuits out, softer biscuits need to be stored in the fridge to maximise their shelf life. These will last for a week.

Top Tips – If you make lots of biscuits – pop some into the freezer for later. Swap peanut butter for parmesan cheese and applesauce.
